Instructions

Our reactive gels are simple to use and can be used in different ways. You can also re-mix and remould the gel multiple times.

Hand Moulding

Our polymer gels can be moulded by hand by using hot water to make custom lures. Whilst these are often a little more rough and ready they offer a useful way to make customised lures with stripes and other features.

  1. Weigh out the amount of polymer you require for your lure.

  2. Place polymer in bowl.

  3. Pour hot water from the kettle over the polymer (you can also use a flask of hot water if you are already out fishing).

  4. Mix polymer chips in the water with a spoon until they have melted together (approximately 60 seconds).

  5. Remove polymer with spoon and carefully start moulding the lure around your jig head or hook by hand.

  6. Allow to cool to room temperature (the polymer can be run under cold water for faster curing).

Note: While the polymer is hot you can mix colours together or layered if the gel is in strips.

Cleaning up: to clean the bowl and spoon, allow the gel to cool and then remove by hand. The bowl and spoon can then be washed as normal.

Warnings: Be careful when moulding by hand and allow the gel to cool to a temperature where you feel comfortable you will not be burned. This should be done by adults only.

Hot Casting

For a more professional look you can use our polymers in lure casting kits and moulds.

  1. Weigh out the amount of polymer you require for your lure.

  2. Place polymer in a metal pot.

  3. Heat the gel to approximately 130C.

  4. Pour into mould directly or use a mould injector to fill your mould(s).

  5. Allow to cool to room temperature and remove the lures.

Warning: Extreme care should be taken with the gel when hot. It is advised that you use a IR thermometer to check the temperature of the gel before touching. This should be done by adults only.

“Polishing”

If you have used the Hot Casting method and would like to create a glossy finish or glass like effect for our transparent gel you can use a heat gun or hot hairdryer on high heat. By gently passing the heat gun over the surface of the gel you should find that it takes on a glossy surface. Allow it to cool before touching. This may take longer with a hairdryer.
